Napping at Nighttime?

This morning I woke up feeling like complete crap. I could not make it to church and just felt super sick. So Petra went to Auntie Joe’s church by herself. It is too bad that I missed it because apparently it was a children’s service and there was dancing and singing and stuff. That would have been really neat to see! This also made church a whole hour longer, so I tried to rest and did some of my lesson plans when I could.

The power went off halfway through church and so all the fans in the house did as well. That made for a sticky and hot morning of “rest.” It was really hard to try and sleep off being sick with it being that hot, but I slowly felt a little better and a cold shower helped some too.

This afternoon I had my business class, so I had to pull it together and try and feel up to it. I had some extra rest, since it was supposed to start at 2 and they didn’t come until...wait for it...4:30. Awesome.
The class went well though, we have learned all of our business terms, and I tested them on them today and they seem to know most of them thoroughly. We started learning about keeping records, making sure that they keep track of their costs, sales, and inventory. This is a concept that is foreign to them and when I asked whether or not they keep track of such things, they said it was all in their heads.
I started them with these little books that they can put in any bag since they are small and hard covered so they won’t get wrecked. I showed them how to keep track of certain things, and which things are important to write down. After all, there is no way that it all stays in their heads...

Teaching this class has been really rewarding, and it is giving me lots of ideas and kind of showing me what I want to do with my degree after I am done school. I am really excited about everything that this internship has been teaching me. I have always wanted to be a teacher and now that I finally have the opportunity, I am learning so much!

It’s funny, sometimes the students, although they are adults, bicker like children. One of the ladies came in with a hole in her shirt today and the other scolded her saying, “you should dress yourself properly, you are a mother of CHILDREN!” About a half an hour later the scolding lady took off her bracelet that was bothering her while she was writing and the other lady said, “you shouldn’t complain that your bracelet is bothering you, it WAS your choice to buy it...”
They roll their eyes at each other and go back and forth. Sometimes it’s hilarious and other times it’s just strange watching two grown women go at it like that.

The power went off around 6pm tonight and Auntie Joe said it was supposed to come back on around 10. My family wanted to Skype with me, so I just set me alarm and crawled into bed for 3 hours. Slept until the lights came back on and then got to talk to them. The whole house was pitch black anyway. It was lovely. Naps AND talking to family. Just perfect.
